Amidst a mid-day bender Brandon, Kelly, Christina, and I decided to conduct an interview with artist Sean Ennis. And goes as follows.. Cheers!

geese one
BF: So you’re tending bar, my drinks are free what do you want to talk about?
SE: I don’t know. Art? Art shows? What does Bluetan want to know? You’re the interviewer. You ask the questions.

BF: You’ve got your hands in all kinds of things: bartending, working on the set of the Martha Stewart Show, “male modeling” and probably a bunch of other stuff I don’t even know about. You’re busy as hell. How do you find time to be creative?
SE: Yeah dude, I work a lot. I have a problem with sitting still. I’m always moving or thinking about my next move. It’s hard for me to sit down and draw for too long. I either get forced into being creative through pressure from my friends, or I just get some idea in my head that eventually gets so annoying that I have to get it out and put it down on paper. I play music too so it’s hard to balance everything.
BF: Let’s talk about the crap-o-copia: For one low price you get a can of Schlitz, a Schmidts, a Strohs, a Pabst, a Genesee and a High Life….. What’s your favorite dirt-bag beverage?
SE: Yeah, how sick is that? Twelve bucks and you can get six trash beers! Best deal I’ve seen. You should try the Kentucky Beer Cheese. My friend Ted introduced me to ghetto mimosas a couple months ago. Just orange juice and Colt 45. You’d be surprised. But honestly I’m good with a cold bottle of Budweiser.

KH: If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
SE: I don’t think you should ask me any more questions Kelly. But, I have been super into horseshoe crabs lately. I’m thinking about doing a piece on them.

KH: interesting, so did you see a lot of those in CT?
SE: Yeah, the Long Island Sound is loaded with them. I caught a couple super late at night when I was home in May. My buddy Paul still owes me a hundred dollars.
BF:So you’re from Connecticut, can I borrow $20.00? How’s the change treating you, going from Country Club CT to the dirty streets of North Brooklyn? You dig it? Seems like you’ve lived here for years.
SE: If I had $20 dollars would I be standing here talking to you? Everyone always thinks everyone from CT is rich. I mean, there are filthy rich people that live there. But it has ghetto areas too. The State actually is pretty economically diverse. South Norwalk has Million dollar houses on the water a mile away from drug infested project systems. Bridgeport is super ghetto. We used to get 40’s down there when we were kids. I really like Brooklyn though. I was over living up in CT. There’s just so much more going on in the City. A lot of my friends are married or buying houses up there. That just seems so crazy to me. I’ve got so much more to do before I can even think about that.
JO: What’s your handicap?
SE:I actually played Golf a couple weekends ago at a friend’s bachelor party. I used to play a lot when I was younger. It’s hard to get away with not playing golf in Connecticut. I know that’s not cool or whatever down here in Brooklyn, but I’ll probably pick it back up when I get older when I can’t skateboard anymore.

BF: Would you rather weigh 400 lbs. or have a baby arm?
SE: Four Hundred pounds for sure. I could just run that shit off. The baby arm would stick around forever.

BF: You opened a show recently (Line Language) in CT, How’d it go??
SE: Yeah, with Kevin (Minto) at DayOne. It’s my friend Jeff (Walsh)’s skateshop/art space in Bridgeport. He hosts art shows every month with different artists. I did a graphic for a DayOne shop deck and he was bugging me to do a full show for a while and I was being lazy on it. Then Kevin hit me up about doing a collective show and I committed and ended up hanging 18 pieces. It was weird cause I’m a pencil to paper guy and Kevin and I decided from the get go to stick to a computer/graphic-design kind of art. But yeah, all and all it was a good party and a lot of good friends came by to support the show.

CC: So…. You are wherever you are right now. Is there anywhere else you would rather be?
SE: I’m in a good place right now. I’m looking to play more music and work on some new art pieces though. I have a feeling the winter’s going to be pretty brutal. Stuck in a cold apartment for 5 months is most likely going to make me go insane again. Hopefully that will inspire some creative energy. Bright lights from dark places, you know…
