bluetan was started in North Carolina in 2005 by Joseph O’Neal and Geoff Henshall as an art collective that sprung out of a mutual interest in contemporary art and a shared desire to be part of the international conversation. Since relocating to Brooklyn, NY in 2007; bluetan has grown to a tight knit collective of Joseph O’Neal, Geoff Henshall, Brandon Fonville, Steve Chellis, and Joe Strasser. The collective collaborates outside the group as often as possible alongside it's own gallery shows, museum events, art festivals, and group and solo exhibitions in locations such as Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Chicago, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Connecticut, North Carolina, South Carolina, England, Norway and Switzerland.

The five members work in an array of mediums through photography, paintings, installation and mixed media works. bluetan consists of five artists with five unique styles and sets of experiences, yet the work flows together with familiar transcendental qualities.
